The foundry

Small team.Longspecifications.

Brand New Level is run from Weesp as a network: a small core, with specialists across Europe pulled in per problem. Here is how a thing becomes a product.

Technical drawings spread flat across a table
An idea  →  Something that runs

We would rather own a format nobody wantsthan rent a feature everybody has.

The method

Five rules, and we breaknone of them.

They are why the portfolio is small, and why none of it is a wrapper around somebody else’s API.

01Start at the output

We begin at the end. What has to come out, in what format, and who has to accept it without phoning anybody. The screen is designed backwards from that.

02Draw it before you build it

Interfaces get drawn, argued about and thrown away on paper first. Paper is the cheapest place in the world to be wrong, and the fastest.

03Take the boring hard part

The valuable work is usually a file format, a colour transform or a protocol nobody wants to own. That is exactly where we start, because it is the part that cannot be copied in a weekend.

04Calibrate against reality

Real production files, real machines, real printers. Nothing is supported here until something physical comes out correct.

05Ship, then stay

We run what we build. A product nobody maintains is a demo with a domain name.

Evidence policy

What we claim,and how firmly.

Four words, used consistently, so that a reader can tell the difference between something we measured and something we were told.

01Verified

We ran it, on a real machine or a real press, and something physical came out correct.

02Measured

A number from our own instrumentation, with the method stated if anyone asks.

03Reported

Somebody else’s figure. Attributed to them, on the page where it appears.

04Not claimed

The interesting one. If we cannot back it, we say nothing, including where a stronger claim would sell better.

Where

Weesp,next to Amsterdam.

A small core in one building, and a European network of specialists pulled in per problem. It is why the team can be this size and the specifications this long.

Founded and run

Independently. No outside owner deciding which product survives.

Language

English for the products, worldwide. Dutch through Brand Level, in the Netherlands.

Address

Pampuslaan 59, 1382 JM Weesp, Netherlands.

Bring us the partnobody wants to own.

A format, a machine, a colour problem, a workflow that ends in a phone call. Those are the ones we like.
