Calibrating a format that has no specification
Kerf writes Hundegger BVX. There is no public spec for it, so we built one out of real production files.

BTLx has a published schema and we validate against it before a file leaves. Hundegger BVX does not, which leaves you two options: guess, or measure.
We measured. The corpus is twelve real production files, 879 parts and roughly 9,100 machine operations, collected from workshops that were willing to hand over work that had already been cut correctly. Every release is checked against all of it.
This is the boring hard part, and it is exactly the kind of work we go looking for. A format nobody wants to own cannot be copied in a weekend.
